a bit of rest...

We had a great weekend this past weekend. Saturday night we took Austin to get frozen custard at Sheridans. ( mama was cheating on her dairy free diet!) We sat outside with Austin in his car seat and he actually was content!! It was wonderful!! I told Shea that if someone had told us 2 months before that we would be doing this one day, we would have thought they were crazy!!
Sunday we went to church again and....drum roll please......we put Austin in the nursery!!! It was a huge step for me---my stomach was doing flips at the beginning and I swear I looked at the little sign thats supposed to flash names if they need a parent to come, a million times! But they never called us and I had such an incredible church service! We went to pick him after and of course some one was holding him---but he looked content. It was a huge step for us ( ok---probably more me than any one else!!) but one I am glad we did and now can relax a bit more the next time we do it.

This week I am working shorter days and also took an extra day off. I swear I noticed a difference in Austin the first day--he seemed more content and happy, which I am sure was a refection of what he was getting from me. We went home and took a two hour nap together and it was wonderful. I vowed never to take for granted those special naps we take together--they are a precious time that I know will be gone too soon. Yesterday we spent the day just being together--I knew I needed to get other stuff done but after working every day for the past month and a half--I just wanted to sit back and enjoy my boy---so I did. He played on his floor gym, took lots of naps, giggled at the dogs and had a great day. He even played in the yard with his neighbor friend, Jude, who is 2 months older then him. We laid them side by side and they grabbed hands---it was very cute. We then realized that Austin was just maybe a bit bigger then Jude---our son looks like a linebacker already!!

This morning he has been much fussier than normal and it seems to be related to teething! I cant imagine what it feels like to have teeth coming in--but by his actions, it feels yucky!!!

No news on my job stuff yet---and it may be a few weeks before I know anything. I am just praying for God just to show us whats best. We shall see---and in the mean time I am cherishing my quiet moments with our boy.

Outside? Playing and having fun? That's great...Soon he will be able to crawl away from the mat and indulge in some organic bugs and benefit from the minerals in a fistfull (mouthfull) of dirt. You need to keep an eye on those neighbor kids though.
