Our Kids are BIG!!

With all the stuff we going on this week with Lexi--we also fit in a wellness visit to the Pediatrician. It was Lexi's 3 month check up and Austin's 3 yr old check up. ( He actually had not been to a Dr since he was 1yr...poor kid has no idea what goes on at those places!)
What we found out is that Shea and I grow some BIG kiddos!

Austin came in as average size for a FOUR YEAR old! He is in the 90th percentile for height and 85th percentile for weight. He has HUGE completely flat feet ( no arch)  that turn in a bit--but the doctor said the way his feet are shaped and the size they are we need to expect him to be really fast. Oh great! He did not receive any vaccinations ( actually the Dr said " are we doing any vaccinations today on Austin?" I said "NO" and he said "great--I think thats a great choice!" Woo--hoo...love a Pediatrician who supports us in our way to vaccinate our children.) He did ask if we wanted an anemia test for Austin because he had never had one--I said yes. We warned Austin it would be a little stick in his finger...but he had no clue what that meant cause he has never had an injection.
They laid him down and stuck his finger as I held his other hand--and that sweet little boy just scrunched his eyes up and clenched his jaw and didnt cry. I could not believe it--those finger sticks HURT! Especially cause his blood was not running fast so she kept squeezing it.About a minute into he did start squirming and said he was done...poor kid! Anyways--he passed on the developmental questions fine and got his medical form filled out to start at his new school in a a few weeks.

Lexi got all checked out too--and she too is no scrawny kiddo! She is in the 60th percentile for height and 70th percentile for weight ( that would be all the supplementing of bottles I have been giving her in the past two weeks...she gained 10oz in those two weeks!) He did examine her for tongue tie and didnt think she really had one...which is why we then went to the ENT for an expert opinion on tongue tie.

I do love this new pediatrician but the bottom line is they are still human and are gonna make mistakes. This is why I am PASSIONATE on always doing my own research and seeking out other experts thoughts and then making the best decision for our kids based on what we believe to be right. If I had only gone to my pediatrician and taken his word...we still would be miserable. I still love him and trust him with most things for our kiddos, but bottom line is if something does not feel right, I wont stop until we get an answer.

I hope our kids thank us for that one day!
