So there are those moments for a parent when you think "wow...this feels defining." And we have had that happen twice over the past few weeks with Austin in regards to prayer.
A few months ago, Shea began being very diligent about making sure we pray before dinner. So each night we would fold our hands, bow our heads and pray--Austin would watch us, smile and when we would say Amen, he would clap.
So about 2 weeks ago, we sat down to dinner in a rush--Shea and I were talking, cutting Austin's food up and we began to eat...without praying first. Finally i look over to Austin and he is sitting very quietly with his hands clasped and is just looking at us. I looked over the table at Shea and at the same time we both went "whoa!" Guess we wont be skipping our meal prayer any more at dinner!
So fast forward to last week...AS Austin is getting older I am trying to incorporate more "routine" into his day, so I started last week with getting his "jam jams " on ( PJ's), then he picks a book which we read in his big boy bed and then we kneel down next to the bed and say our prayers.
I started this on Sunday night. On Wednesday night he was having a hard time slowing down. so I said to him as he is running out the door of his bedroom, "Austin we need to get jam jams on, read a book and then say our prayers." Suddenly he stops going down the hall, comes back to his room, goes over to his bed where he leans over and clasps his hands together to pray.....I could have died right then!! I could not believe that after two nights that he would already remember that---I mean we had been trying to teach him the "more" sign for like 3 moths before he picked that up--and here he picks up praying in a few short days...divine intervention is all I have to say!! God knows we are accountable to praying with him daily if HE is reminding us!
I don't have a picture of him praying as I know that would be such a distraction to him and he probably would quit doing it...but I will work on getting it because its just so precious!
