OK--its been busy!

Alright, I have decided that putting the expectation on myself to update the blog daily or every other day is just not realistic! Life is just too busy for that! Not to mention the only time I get to spend any significant amount of time on the computer, is after the boy is asleep and only if I stay up late...and I am realizing I need more sleep.

I did 3 births in a total of 13 days ending last week. All great births---strong mama's who gave so much to have a great birth experience. It still never ceases to amaze me how incredibly powerful the birth of a baby is. I still think I have one of the best jobs on earth! Austin went to the sitters twice and did really well. One day he was with her all day and the next one he was with her for part of the day ( ok more like 7 hours because she let me go home and get some sleep before I picked him up!) He still is not taking milk from any thing but me, but she slowly but surely is picking up on his solid food intake.

That would also be why I am so busy--to try to get him on a more "rigid" ( I say that VERY loosely!) nursing schedule I have to keep him very occupied--so we have been running errands, doing play dates, swimming, walking, shopping, etc... all to keep him busy so he does not ask to nurse so often. It does seem to be helping a bit--he is "asking" ( if you can call screeching at me and pointing, "asking") for more solid food snacks throughout the day which is great.

We meet with the nutritionist in about 2 weeks and should hear from the OT soon.

Each day I see more in him that makes me realize just how fast he is growing up.
  • He can pick out a duck and ball in his books.
  • He climbed out the doggie door today and played happily on the patio by himself!
  • He walks into the kiddie pool and then just lifts his legs like he expects he will just swim!
  • He can safely climb off all the beds in the house.
  • I put him in his crib the other day to "try" to see if he would go to sleep--he got so mad that he tore the mobile off--it was in pieces with wires hanging when I went in to get him.
  • Going to the grocery store is no longer "fun." He sees things he would like and screeches at the top of his lungs for them--things like balls, balloons, toys and price signs! He also like to chunk objects at fellow grocers....beware!
  • He has climbed on a few things--coffee tables, boxes, chairs and beds. Oh and he likes to try to climb on mama!
  • He knows when daddy is home that he "might" get to ride horsey Sam--so he goes to the horse and yanks and pulls on him, while screeching to daddy.
  • He showed empathy last week. I was watching his friend Caleb for a few hours and needed to put him down for a nap. Well of course what kid goes down without some tears and Austin was very distraught by Caleb's crying in the bedroom with the door closed. He kept pointing at the door and making noises with a very sad look on his face. He eventually went to the door and started crying too...it was soo sweet.
Ahh...the world of a 12 month old!
